Many famous hip-hop artists have come together to help remake “We Are The World” to raise money for Haiti. Many famous stars, including Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Wonder, plus many more, worked together to create the original “We Are The World” song. To this day, it has raised more than $63 million to donate to 18 different countries in sub-Saharan Africa for emergency relief funds and development projects. However, many popular hip-hop artists recently collaborated to remake this song, and are planning to donate the proceeds to Haiti. “We Are The World – 25 For Haiti” is the name of the song, and it will benefit earthquake relief through the We Are The World Foundation. The remake of “We Are The World” will feature famous rappers such as Lil Wayne, Kanye West, T-Pain, Wyclef Jean, Kid Cudi, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Drake, Bizzy Bone, Nipsey Hussie, Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beatz. These are only the rappers that have signed on so far, more artists will be added later. Nipsey Hussie told MTV, “As hip-hop artists, we’re the voice of the young generation. So it’s very important we speak our opinion and give our feeling as to what’s going on in Haiti and contribute our celebrity and voices to the disaster. It’s necessary.” Lil Wayne will be singing Bob Dylan’s part from the original song, and when he first found out about this, he said, “I was like ‘You guys are real good comedians.’ After I did Bob Dylan’s part, it kind of hit me that I guess this is way more important than I could ever imagine.” |
